#VODWFutureVoices
I want to be a social media Influencer where I can raise awareness of important issues and advocate for the rights of domestic workers everywhere
My Story
I am Wendy, I was born in Camarines Norte, Philippines. I have three siblings' two sisters and one brother. In the Philippines, I attended primary school, secondary school, and college where I did a two-year Computer System Design and Programming course. My plan was to become a nurse, but the medical school fees were so high I could not attend medical school so I enrolled in the computing course instead and worked while studying.
I was working for three years in Saudi Arabia as a nanny/housekeeper and almost three years in Hyde Park Gate, Kensington as a carer/housekeeper. I am hardworking, reliable and trustworthy. I am also an active member of The Voice of Domestic Workers and a leader of the Media & Communication Working Group. We produce campaign graphics and videos that VODW is posting in social media. We also use our videos in our campaigns. I am in-charge of the Monthly Newsletter of VODW, I work with my team mates to ensure we have good updates every month. I spend my day off in attending the classes like Financial Coaching and MediaCom Workshop every Saturday and ESOL, Body, Mind and Wellness, and Information Technology classes every Sunday. I learned and became empowered by the help of this community. I also have the opportunity to support my fellow domestic workers.
