#VODWFutureVoices

“I want to inspire and speak up for my fellow migrant workers who felt voiceless by sharing my stories and struggles.”

Biography

I’m Ritchel, I’m 41 years old, and I’m married with two children. With the help of our aunties who were working abroad, I was able to graduate college with a Bachelor of Science Major in Psychology. I worked in the Philippines as a sales clerk, in HR doing data entry, and as a school teacher before I decided to go abroad. I worked in Singapore for 11 years before I was brought here to London where I suffered verbal and physical abuse.

The Voice of Domestic Workers rescued me and helped me to build my life slowly here in the UK with their advocacy and education programmes. I believe that all human beings no matter from where and in which social classes deserve a minimum of basic human rights.

I’m joining Future Voices to learn new things, improve myself and become the face and voice of the organisation who fights for our rights here in the UK.
